Everyone I interviewed was really helpful towards my goal to expand my market. I interviewed students from a University Florida dance team, and I got great results. Everyone really liked my idea of a portable charger with outlets on it to charge all major electronics. My favorite suggestion from my last interview was to make a case for the portable charger.
This was really interesting. I told these girls my idea about creating a waterproof version of the portable charger. The girls were really appreciative of this. They also suggested that I make the Pod eco friendly. The girl who said to create the case to sell with the pod also said to make that case waterproof. Which makes sense. What benefit to college students have from buying a waterproof portable charger? A waterproof case for the Pod seems to be perfect for these girls.
The girls also suggested to make the Pod have a better battery life. This is true because this is the next best step in making my product more efficient for the students. It can last longer and be perfect for a student's long day of studies in the library. I was really appreciative of all the wonderful feedback and it made me want to use this advice to make my product even better.
New Market
The new market I decided to tackle was Starbucks coffee locations. I thought that it would be really great to take the pods to Starbucks all over the country because although it is a place for people to go and drink coffee, it could be a great place to bring the Pods.
I sought out Starbucks addicts and asked them if they thought that the next best place to take the Pod to would be the most popular coffee shops in the world. They all thought that it was a great idea. They said a lot of students go to Starbucks coffee shops so I would still be making students happy.
I thought it would be cool to power the coffee machines by the Pod to make it more eco friendly. Maybe the shop could add more coffee machines by adding the Pods into their stores and delivering coffee to customers more efficiently. I was really happy with all the great feedback I got from these people. I think it will be a really cool way to create a new market.
Hey! Great idea! Samsung is has been moving their phones towards waterproof-ness! This would complement the samsung galaxy phones that are water proof. If being waterproof is your main selling point, you could try to market this to people who are out on boats or surfboards. Surfers often record their surf sessions with go pros. A Waterproof portable charger could change the documentation of the surfing industry. It could also benefit fisherman or water sports enthusiasts! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteAlex,
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea for sure! "Waterproof" in terms of technology seems to be the new thing, so you creating portable charger that is also waterproof definitely falls in line with this. My question is, how would you tackle the various road blocks (cost, durability, etc.) with your product? Portable chargers are not a new thing, so you would have to set yourself apart from the competition.

Hi Alex, I think this is a really great idea. I'm unsure as to how heavy or big your product would be, but that would be my major concern. My new market is also college students. I think that waterproofing the charger is a good step as a wow factor, it also makes people feel safer if the big battery they're carrying around can't kill them easily. I'm not sure how easy that is but I'm sure its possible. When you say major electronics, what exactly are you talking about? if its just phones, this totally exists, if it has a power outlet and can charge laptops, I'm concerned about its size. I look forward to reading more about this. It seemed like your customers were very helpful in improving the product, mine were too, albeit in less clear ways. you should check out my venture. http://imalsonotadoctor.blogspot.com/2016/04/whats-next.html
ReplyDeleteHi Alex, I really like your product idea and I know for a fact I would buy it, and use it. Especially if it was waterproof because I ruin every phone with water at one point or another. I think all electronics should be waterproofed! I also appreciate the fact that you are the first person I've seen that actually posted the videos for this assignment. I knew I would not be able to find six people to interview while I am studying abroad so I was not able to complete this assignment myself, but you can check out my blog here: http://mistydawn67.blogspot.com.es/
ReplyDeleteYou have a good idea but I'm not so sure how it's different the current portable chargers that already have a usb outlet so you can change the cord. But I definitely like the addition of making it waterproof because I have ruined very many electronic products from getting them wet. I think going to starbucks was also a good idea to survey people. ReplyDeleteHey Alex,
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea. I think that it is extremely important to incorporate chargers into more public places and I think you got some great feedback. People could share these in the library, which helps create a more unified community. In the year 2016 I think it is important to have a charge on your phone at all times.=, you never know whats going to happen that you may need it to record and document an incident or call for an emergency situation. Great concept. I like the case idea, and anything waterproof is a win in my book! Check out my blog below:

Alex,
ReplyDeleteThe concept of a waterproof charger sounds great, however, how would you actually take the problem of making electronics waterproof? As technology continues to expand, I think everyone should have a constant charge wherever they go. Good work on the videos and the assignment as a whole. http://flgatorblogging.blogspot.com
Hi there Alex!
ReplyDeleteGreat concept without a doubt. It is sad how we live in an era where we have great technology yet our batteries seem to still fall behind. I think you could add features such as a charge time, to let users know how much time is left until the pod is fully charged. Other functionalities could include personalization. That way you can approach a wider market and get people to buy these because theyre not only functional but aesthetically pleasing.
Hi Alex! Great job on your interviews, and I also really like your idea! My idea is kind of similar, but it uses solar power to charge devices. I think it is very innovative and can tell you have put a lot of thought into your concept. Great job! Check out my blog here http://jenniecarmody.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHey Alex, you did a great job with this assignment. Your interviews were conducted very well. The people you interviewed gave you some great advice. You should market your device to other companies. I would definitely use this pod to charge my phone. My phone constantly dies on me during the day.

Hey Alex,
ReplyDeleteI not quite sure the difference between your portable charger and those on the market. I think a few people in the videos were getting confused as well. First, I think you did an excellent job on the assignment which was probably one of our hardest. Second, I think your biggest problem is diversifying your product from the saturated market that you are entering. Additionally, I think you should find a more recognizable name then the pods. Keep up the good work.
