As college students, we all use the library as much as we use the restroom. The libraries get crowded really fast, especially during exam weeks. Since most of a college student's work is on their laptop, to be able to work for long periods of time in the library, we all need to have our chargers handy. However, power outlets are dominated quickly by students throughout the day, and not everyone can charge their computers. My idea, is to have power outlets at every power outlet providing several places where students can charge their devices.
Who has the unmet need?
Students in colleges who use their laptops to do their work have this unmet need.
The Questions
1. How is your experience in the library?
2. Do you find yourself doing most of your school work on your laptop?
3. Are the power outlets easily accessible in the library?
Videos of Five Customers
What did I learn about the opportunity
I learned that a lot of the people I interviewed found that their were very few outlets in the libraries. They really wished their were more, and I found that my opportunity can really thrive in this school.
What did I learn about interviewing customers?
By talking to the customers, I learned a lot of what they wanted to change in the libraries, and how they felt about how crowded the libraries were. They gave good ideas and it was really cool talking to people and getting to experience their thoughts and feelings about the libraries.
Hey Alex, I agree with you in the aspect that the library gets crowded quick hence why I study in my room most of the time when I have exams, But I do not know where you are looking to get with your product since it just seems like you want to install more power outlets at the libraries, maybe if our computers had better battery capacity that could be something useful.
ReplyDeletebut thank you for your input, maybe later on someone can come up with a solution of our problems such as more study areas instead of bars and clubs in gainesville and unlimited computer batteries.
feel free to check my product:

Hi Alex, I really like the opportunity you came up with! I think that charging outlets can be really hard to find at libraries, especially during midterms or finals season. Ian interested to see where this opportunity takes you. Maybe try interviewing people at a library next time to see how they really feel? You could even propose more study areas!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your venture!

Yeah! Isn't this a deciding factor for people when deciding which library to go to ? " Which library has more outlets? Marston? Yeah. Marston definitely." So I guess my question is if you're interested in producing a new powerbar type product, an easier and safer version, perhaps, or a completely new product. Or maybe you want this to be something UF addresses?
ReplyDeleteMore outlets would nice, especially in a big school such as UF. One important question is who would fund this venture, as I assume students do not want to pay for the whole project. It would have been better to rephrase the questions as "are there enough power outlets in your library?" Other than that I loved the idea. Check my blog out
